Reality 3-D
Take a giant step beyond the traditional photo-booth experience when you give attendees images that seem to come to life right in their hands thanks to augmented reality. The technology works in tandem with equipment from Interactive Entertainment Concepts Inc., and allows exhibitors to photograph booth visitors and produce a two- or three-dimensional photo as a giveaway. But when attendees download a free app and view their photos using it, the animation springs to life, appearing to burst out of the photo as if it were a miniature hologram. In addition to providing visitors with one-of-a-kind images, exhibitors can custom-design the interface to include any sort of imagery, and they can brand the photos and augmented-reality experience however they choose. It Just Goes to Show
With the Show & Sell Trade Show Mobile App by Fullerton, CA-based LifeScience Media, booth workers can use a single app for myriad tasks just by switching between a sales mode and a show mode. Show mode features include lead-capture fields with the option of photographing a business card to generate automated emails, send literature, and make notes on a file during a conversation or after a visitor has left the booth. In sales mode, staffers can share marketing materials and send personalized messages to clients and prospects through their own email accounts. The app is customizable through an easy-to-use administrative panel, and it provides detailed analytics as well as the ability to conduct polls and surveys among booth visitors. Perfect Planks
Wood grain is a popular finish in the exhibit-design world, but its cost and weight can be prohibitive. When using Interfuse Wood Panels by Architectural Systems Inc., however, exhibitors can cover their entire display from top to bottom with roughhewn slabs of wood varieties such as oak, birch, or walnut. The 8-by-24-inch panels are constructed of wafer-thin slices of reclaimed wood applied to an equally thin plywood substrate, making the entire piece just 0.25 inches thick and relatively lightweight especially compared to heavy wooden planks. With seven wood species and nine standard patterns to choose from, exhibitors can design their displays with a variety of looks, and they can include custom-carved board pieces to personalize the appearance even more. Custom sizes and finishes are also available upon request. Contact: Architectural Systems Inc., New York, 800-793-0224, www.archsystems.com
Set in Stone
Carved Stone Creations Inc.'s process for cutting virtually any style of stone into thin sheets provides exhibitors the look of stone surfaces without the heft that normally comes with them. Choose from a huge selection of rock varieties, including travertine, slate, granite, and quartzite, each of which comes in an array of hues to match even the most unusual color palette. Custom sizes and thicknesses are available depending on the stone. Contact: Carved Stone Creations Inc., Kaukauna, WI, 866-759-1920, www.carvedstonecreations.com
Get High Marks
Incorporating lighted panels into a display has never been easier than with the Prizm Light Wall by Highmark TechSystems USA. The product is built with thin interior extrusions containing LED lights that evenly disperse illumination from behind a single- or double-sided fabric panel. Exterior extrusions hold silicone-edge graphics in place and provide the support that either allows the product to stand alone or slide into Highmark's Max base to be incorporated into a larger wall system. Panels can be adapted to fit other wall systems and can be used individually or as extended walls or towers of multiple backlit panels. Custom sizing and configuration options are available. On the Edge
Designing dramatic elements using extrusion and fabric just got easier with a product from Moss Inc. that creates 3-D shapes of any size with extreme curves and razor-sharp edges. The Curv-Edge incorporates silicone-edge tensioned fabric and Moss' classic tube construction with a patent-pending infrastructure that allows designs to have flowing, organic lines combined with angles so crisp they resemble hard panels. Extrusions have a minimum bend radius of 24 inches, and the fabric panels can be easily switched out. Contact: Moss Inc., Elk Grove Village, IL, 800-341-1557, www.moss-exhibits.com
Core Issues
When you need the lightness of foam board with the strength of aluminum, check out the Kapa Tech Hybrid Graphic Display Board. The product consists of two sheets of 0.008-inch-thick aluminum composite material bonded to a polyurethane foam core, giving graphic displays the durability of aluminum at a fraction of the weight. The polyurethane foam core is denser and stronger than polystyrene foam boards. Surfaces can be covered by solvent-based paints, digital printing, screen printing, decorative film, and high-pressure laminates.
