Virginia Beach Convention Center Retains its LEED Gold Certification

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau (VBCVB) proudly announced that the Virginia Beach Convention Center has successfully retained its prestigious LEED® Gold certification. As the nation’s first convention center to achieve this distinction as an existing building in 2010, the facility has continued to set the standard for sustainability for more than a dozen years.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the world's most widely recognized green building rating system, symbolizing excellence in and a commitment to environmental stewardship. Through innovative design, construction, and operational practices that enhance both environmental and human health, LEED-certified buildings like the Virginia Beach Convention Center are paving the way toward a more sustainable future.

“We are immensely proud to retain our LEED Gold certification at the Virginia Beach Convention Center,” said Nancy Helman, Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau Director. “This distinction reaffirms our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Our ongoing efforts to integrate innovative and sustainable practices in our design, construction and operations not only enhance the health and well-being of our community, but also set a benchmark for excellence in the convention industry. We are dedicated to making Virginia Beach a leader in sustainable tourism and continuing to provide a world-class experience for our visitors.”

The Virginia Beach Convention Center offers dedicated full-service event managers to assist with every detail, ensuring the success of events of all sizes in the building’s more than 515,000 square feet of function space. Comprehensive utility services are available throughout the entire facility. The center features 22 contiguous loading docks located on-grade next to the exhibit hall and ballroom for easy access.
