W1023 Advanced Learning Session:
Discovering the Design Value of Discovery Tools
Discovery tools are frameworks which serve a two-pronged purpose. They help designers avoid missing basic elements to be addressed and help foster the discovery of otherwise neglected opportunities for fresh new thinking. In this session, three discovery tools will be shared to demonstrate the practical value of their use:
 •  Experience Design Landscapes for symbols, objects, activities, and systems
 •  Order-of-Magnitude Thinking on offerings, audience sizes, event frequency, and price points
 •  Transformation Focus concerning aspirations of customers and dimension of desired change
