4008: Liability Related to Social Media, Liquor and Host Issues, High Risk Activities, and Data Protection
This is a 45-minute session.
This legal session will provide an easy-to-understand review of high-level legal statutes which relate to or impact trade shows, exhibits, and events of all sizes. We will learn to understand a variety of federal statutes and provisions (i.e. CDA, DMCA); explore the legal concerns of social media, marketing, and promotions; evaluate the risk associated with typical, trendy, or even crazy activities that occur during events, and become generally prepared to handle unexpected occurrences. Finally, we will take a top-level look at data protection, including aspects of the GDPR and CCPA. Learn to:
• Identify potential legal consequences that can arise from common real-life situations
• Evaluate the apparent and hidden risk potential of various decisions, actions, and situations
• Understand standard best practices and the business decisions associated with them
CTSM Candidates with 5 or more years of experience may take this session in place of certain five-digit required sessions, with prior approval.
