Trip the Light Fantastic
For Lightbox Jewelry Inc., the obvious was apropos at the 2023 Jewelers Circular Keystone Show (JCK). A true box of light, the firm's 20-by-22-foot stand not only drew attendees like moths to a flame but also impressed jurors, one of whom called it “a conspicuously clear choice that crushed company objectives.”

Lightbox Jewelry manufactures lab-grown diamonds, and going into JCK, the company's objectives were both practical and aesthetic. Along with long-distance visibility to accommodate a back-of-the-hall booth space, the stand needed to integrate several screens with looping content about both lab-grown diamonds and the brand's sustainability standards. Stakeholders also hoped to bring the brand's essence to life by communicating both the shimmer of diamonds and sterility of a lab.
Two-Facet Design
Lightbox Jewelry Inc.'s booth showcased its lab-grown diamonds via a two-part design, featuring a sterile, lab-like interior and a shimmering exterior façade. While the outside drew attendees in with a jewelry store window's glimmer, the inside offered the precision of a laboratory, where the gems would be made with science rather than mined.
The exhibit, designed by Creative Union Inc. and fabricated by Altitude Exhibits LLC, met functional demands and married seemingly opposite aesthetics. Built on a framework of LED aluminum extrusions, the enclosed stand featured a holographic film on the exterior walls, which crafted an opalescent effect that shimmered from afar. Internally lit ID elements on the front wall and a 16-foot tower at the back branded the environment. Accessing the stand from two entry points, attendees discovered a sterile, minimalist interior bathed in white where they found diamond displays and a 3-D holographic slot machine activity. “Our intent was to create a design that prompted an emotional juxtaposition — attracting visitors to the exhibit while evoking that 'whoa' moment when they stepped in,” said Henry Hsun, founder and creative director at Creative Union. The stand's fusion of high-tech sparkle and pristine design proved that when brilliance meets clarity, the solution is truly dazzling. E
