Charlotte Convention Center
Located in vibrant Charlotte Center City, the Charlotte Convention Center in North Carolina completed a $127 million expansion in October 2021 that added more than 50,000 square feet of meeting and prefunction space. The now 600,000-square-foot facility offers 280,000 square feet of contiguous show-floor space divisible into four halls, 154,000 square feet of breakout space, and a pair of ballrooms at 40,000 and 35,000 square feet. High ceilings and arched entrances along the grand concourse create the perfect backdrop for events. As an added bonus, the convention center is connected to the NASCAR Hall of Fame and is situated across the street from The Green, a 1.5-acre public park.
WHERE TO SLEEP
With more than 6,000 hotel rooms downtown, finding a walkable place to stay is a cinch. Nothing is more convenient than the 700-room Westin Charlotte, which is linked to the venue via a pedestrian bridge, or the 400-room Hilton Charlotte Uptown across the road. For luxury accommodations, book The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte.
WHAT TO EAT
In addition to many quick options in the venue's Delish Food Court, there are scores of restaurants within walking distance. Consider ducking into Johnny Burrito, where the firecracker chicken comes highly recommended. If you're looking for a fine-dining experience for private parties, check out the Brazilian-style Chima Steakhouse.
HOW TO GET THERE
The Charlotte Convention Center is seven miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, where you can catch a cab for a flat rate of $25. A ride on the city's Sprinter Bus from the airport to Center City is $3 each way (www.ridetransit.org). Uber and Lyft rides begin at around $14. For those driving to and from the venue, multiple ramps near the convention center supply ample parking. The Charlotte Convention Center (CCC) has GBAC STAR accreditation. The venue has 19 covered loading bays. North Carolina is a right-to-work state. Exhibitors may perform electrical work in their booths, including hookups to ordered power sources with a qualified electrical technician. Smart City Networks is the exclusive provider of all telecommunication, internet, and Wi-Fi services. Free high-density Wi-Fi is available throughout the meeting room level. The CCC features an in-house catering department. Any outside food and beverage (e.g., samples) must be preapproved. Encore Global is the preferred audiovisual provider. Exhibitors that choose a different provider and require house sound will be charged a patch fee. An on-site UPS store is available for shipping and printing services. Dancing in unison, high-impact dancing and aerobics, and similar activities are prohibited on the ballroom and meeting room levels due to structural specifications.
