1. This show almost instantly developed into one of the world's largest expos for the photographic and imaging industries when it launched in Cologne, Germany, 69 years ago.

2. Beginning 102 years ago with just 29 exhibitors, this trade show known for its timing now draws 1,300 exhibitors and 100,000 attendees.

3. Just six years after the Wright Brothers accomplished sustained flight, the first trade show devoted to aerial locomotion took off, attracting nearly 100,000 visitors in its first four days.

4. Debuting in 1911, this expo was soon known for organic sculptures, including Statues of Liberty, Aztec temples, and locomotives made entirely out of avitamin C-filled fruit.

5. Known as The Road Show when it debuted in 1909, this exhibition paved the way for a triennial construction-related event that draws up to 130,000 attendees.

6. First held in New York in 1967, this exhibition, which moved to Chicago in 1971 and added Las Vegas as an additional venue in 1977, launched products such as the VCR, Xbox, satellite radio, and more.

7. Now recognized as one of the world's largest events for the music-products industry, this exhibition has hit many high notes since its 1901 founding by the National Association of Piano Dealers.
