Perfect Pairings
Sometimes the best lure for the feet is an interesting seat. Certainly, a mundane metal folding chair or a staid stool serves the same purpose as an angular alcove or a cowhide-covered cube. But the latter has a much greater chance of catching passing attendees' eyes — and coaxing customers into your booth. So here are six examples of interesting table-and-chair pairings that no doubt tempted attendees to stop, stare, and enter the space to sit a spell. By Linda Armstrong
Color Scheme
Exhibitor: Fleetwood Industries Inc.
Show: GlobalShop
Supplier: Fleetwood Industries Inc., Leesport, PA, 610-916-9999, www.fleetwoodfixtures.com
This rustic ensemble enlisted color and texture to make a statement. Perched atop a brilliant checkerboard floor, wood and metal stools featured similarly bold colors and shapes, while a weathered-gray wood table topped with fresh pears created a delicious contrast.
Strap Lumber
Exhibitor: Phillips Collection Show: Boutique Design New York
Supplier: Phillips Collection, High Point, NC,
336-882-7400, www.phillipscollection.com
Resting atop a raised wooden floor, this grouping was a study in contrasts. Six Seat Belt Dining Chairs contributed a contemporary air while a Chamcha Wood Dining Table added rich brown tones and an earthy ambiance to the mostly stark-white space.
Triumphant Triangles
Exhibitor: Concept Communications Pte. Ltd.
Show: EuroShop
Supplier: Concept Communications Pte. Ltd., Singapore, 65-6462-3206, www.conceptcoms.com
Concept Communications Pte. Ltd. crafted this aisle-side eye catcher out of little more than scrap lumber and green, turf-style carpet. However, it was the angular arrangement of the triangular table and the simple, oblong benches that seemed to catch attendees' attention.
Angling for Attendees
Exhibitor: Sparks Marketing Group Inc.
Show: EXHIBITOR Show
Supplier: Sparks Marketing Group Inc., Philadelphia, 215-676-1100, www.sparksonline.com
All eyes were on the angles in this exhibit for Sparks Marketing Group Inc. Comprising unfinished wood and white laminate, the angular benches were perfectly positioned to draw attention to the black and white floor stripes, while corporate-red pillows produced the perfect punch of color.
Rustic Chic
Exhibitor: Elevations Inc.
Show: GlobalShop
Supplier: Elevations Inc., South San Francisco, 650-588-9115, www.elevations.com
Clean lines and distressed finishes made this table-and-stool combo a true head turner. Aged-metal connectors joined and accented the stained-wood components while metal plates with the word "Studio" stenciled on them contributed a splash of color and a minimal, modern flair.
Paper Caper
Exhibitor: Procedes Chenel International
Show: EuroShop
Supplier: Procedes Chenel International, Vanves, France, 33-1-41-08-76-76, www.chenel.com
Procedes Chenel International is known for its elegant paper display components. But this grouping, comprising a glass-topped table and bags of recycled paper formed into cushy chairs, provided a touch of humor and whimsy to an otherwise refined space.
