All Systems Go
Once relegated to status-quo sameness, so-called system exhibits have evolved from their cookie-cutter past to a highly customizable present. In fact, it's often hard to tell a custom creation from a booth made almost entirely of system components. Think you can spot the difference? Take this month's quiz and try to determine which of the following structures are system exhibits and which are custom builds.
By Cynthya Porter

3. To reach high above the competition on the show floor, Tecalemit used a massive sign overhead and constructed a graphics-tower focal point that sent its marketing message skyward.

1. A theatrically lit hanging sign, double-deck conference room, and 96-inch tiled video wall made Ford Motor Co.'s racing-themed exhibit worthy of a photo finish.
Custom System
2. The Neptune Technology Group dominated the show floor with this imposing structure featuring an arched entry bracketed by 20-foot-tall graphics walls. Inside, an LED monitor wall played promotional videos.
Custom System

4. Mitsubishi Electric US Inc. was a vision in polished white with this 1,000-square-foot exhibit that featured 16-foot-high walls, embedded video displays, recessed lighting, and enclosed interior spaces for meetings.

5. Penn Color Inc. painted a beautiful picture with this exhibit that featured graphics-covered walls with recessed overhead lighting, an illuminated logo cap, and a backlit pinwheel of color petals that radiated from the ceiling.

6. This display for Butler Schein Animal Health boosted the company's brand presence with mass, color, large images, and impressive architecture. The inside of the booth featured ample space for face-to-face demos.

8. It was smooth sailing for the Scandinavian Tobacco Group Lane Ltd. with this Captain Black display that featured wrap-around privacy walls emblazoned with world maps, a lockable storage room, and a full bar tucked inside of an imposing oval tower capped by the captain's brim.

7. Quosa, a subsidiary of Elsevier B.V., managed to fit a conference room, monitor mounts, lockable storage, and an overhead sign into a 10-by-20-foot space.
Custom System
9. Smooth curves, recessed lighting, and wrap-around display counters with lockable storage converged to create this stately, 400-square-foot exhibit for Sanofi-Aventis Australia Pty Ltd.
