Pennsylvania Convention Center Board Elects David A. Nasatir as Chair, Malik Staten as Vice Chair
3/2/2022
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority (PCCA) voted unanimously at its February meeting to elect David A. Nasatir as the new Chair and Malik Staten as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. David A. Nasatir is a partner at Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP, a Mid-Atlantic full-service law firm based in Center City, Philadelphia. Nasatir was recently elected Chair of Obermayer, chairs the firm’s Business & Finance Department, and has been a member of the firm’s Management Committee since 2014. Nasatir has served on the PCCA Board of Directors since 2016 and currently chairs the Board’s Legal Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the Board’s Administration & Management Committee, Finance Committee, and Hospitality & Tourism Advisory Committee. “As someone who has spent the majority of my career working on economic redevelopment, often representing private developers and sometimes serving on public boards, I am thrilled to take on the unique challenge of leading the Authority and the Convention Center out of this pandemic,” said Nasatir. “The road to recovery will not be easy, but restoring convention business is critical to our region’s hospitality industry, and something I am confident our Board will accomplish.” At Obermayer, Nasatir’s clients range from small family-owned businesses to some of the largest financial institutions in the United States. His diverse and extensive experience includes providing counsel to clients on public finance – both governmental clients and private sector clients seeking access to public finance opportunities – as well as zoning and general corporate and real estate issues, including handling the workout of complex financing projects and structuring of multi-million-dollar real estate developments. Nasatir graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University, graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, and is a member of the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and District of Columbia Bars. He and his wife Dara reside in Lafayette Hill with their four children. Malik Staten is currently the Secretary-Treasurer of Laborers’ International Union of North America, Local 332. He also serves as the Staff Advisor of the Next Generation Committee, a group of enthusiastic union members involved in a range of community service activities such as food giveaways and street clean-ups. Staten is also a delegate to the Laborers’ District Council and a board member of the Samuel Staten Sr. Pre-Apprenticeship Program. As a member of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority’s Board of Directors, Staten serves on the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, the Capital Improvements Committee, and the Hospitality & Tourism Advisory Committee. Chair Nasatir and Vice Chair Staten replace outgoing Chair Greg Fox and Vice Chair Marian Tasco. Board members thanked both Fox and Tasco for their significant contributions to the Pennsylvania Convention Center during their tenure in Board leadership. About the Pennsylvania Convention Center The Pennsylvania Convention Center is located in Center City Philadelphia at the heart of the city's many cultural offerings and world-class dining and entertainment scene.
