Events DC Partners with Dasdak for On-Demand Ordering Solutions at Walter E. Washington Convention Center

Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia, announces its partnership with Dasdak, a mobile ordering solution provider at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Dasdak is an on-demand mobile ordering platform that will provide Convention Center clients and their attendees with food and beverage delivery services to exhibitor booths. The Walter E. Washington Convention Center is the first convention center in the country to launch a mobile ordering platform. In 2012, Events DC was the first to implement Dasdak mobile ordering capabilities at RFK Stadium.

“Technology trends in events continue to be a strategy to strengthen and enrich attendee engagement. By partnering with Dasdak as a mobile ordering solution partner at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Events DC continues to find opportunities to reinvent the client and attendee experience – while remaining an innovative leader across the hospitality industry,” said Gregory A. O’Dell, president and chief executive officer of Events DC. “Building on the Convention Center’s innovative capabilities, Dasdak will be an important tool to better serve our clients and generate additional revenue streams.”

SATELLITE 2015, the premier international satellite industry exhibition and conference will be the first event to roll out the mobile ordering services at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on March 17 - 19. With 350 exhibiting companies and 12,500 attendees, SATELLITE 2015 is a prime candidate to showcase Dasdak’s capabilities to efficiently serve a large audience and eliminate wait times at concessions.

“SATELLITE has had continued success over the years and future growth relies heavily on creating an unforgettable environment for our attendees and exhibitors. We work closely with our partners to evaluate each upcoming event and identify measures we can take to improve the on-site experience, such as offering mobile ordering for our exhibitors,” said Lindsey Fuller, show director for SATELLITE 2015. “We’re excited to partner with Events DC at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center to deliver a more positive, progressive experience for our audience during SATELLITE 2015.”

At large events and conferences, the wait time for concessions is often lengthy and Dasdak can provide venues with solutions. The Dasdak mobile ordering platform eliminates the wait by facilitating the delivery of food and beverage concessions directly to the exhibitor at their booth within minutes, providing them with what they want, when they want it. This mobile technology enhances revenue for exhibitors and show managers. Exhibitors will now able to remain in their booths and gain critical time with customers, whereas show managers are now able to generate additional revenue through mobile engagement, providing a virtual mobile show before the event, and the sale of ad banners that run on the platform.

“Dasdak enables our client, Events DC to offer new mobile services and generate significant additional revenue, while improving service and the customer experience at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center,” explained Swaptak Das, founder and chief executive of Dasdak. “At Dasdak, we solve a problem in busy venues, where often the lines are too long or there are not enough concession stands to supply the demand for food and beverage, forcing attendees to wait in long lines and ultimately decrease their experience. We are also able to capture revenue that would have been missed sales opportunities for exhibitors who can’t get away.”

Centerplate|NBSE, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center’s exclusive food and beverage caterer will work collaboratively with Dasdak to execute the concession orders and provide seamless delivery to exhibitor booths. Centerplate|NBSE will also benefit from this added service with the ability to potentially increase sales from this convenient mobile ordering platform.

In addition, Daskdak mobile ordering services are also available at various stadiums across the country including – RFK Stadium, Nationals Park, Baltimore Ravens’ M&T Bank Stadium, the Superdome, George Washington University and the University of Florida. The long-term goal for Dasdak with Events DC is to be able to offer this solution to not only exhibitor booths but to consumers within the Convention Center and to provide other services outside of food and beverage options – which could include additional menu items, expansive catering options, meeting room temperature control and beyond.
