The cornerstone of DC’s downtown renaissance, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center is as functional as it is impressive. Equipped to handle everything from small meetings to massive trade shows, the 2.3-million-square-foot space is home to events of every kind, from summits hosting world leaders to professional conferences and pop-culture expos. The LEED Gold-certified venue partners with DC Central Kitchen to recover up to 18 tons of food annually and redistribute it to families in need, and it recycles 50 pallets per month from trade shows. On top of boasting the largest digital signage network of any conference facility in the United States (with more than 200 digital displays and a two-story video wall), the Walter E. Washington Convention Center was the first GBAC STAR certified convention center in the Northeast Corridor. It also recently finished a $16.5 million investment in its foodservice, completely revamping all retail offerings while improving the quality of food and refreshing its catering service. |
