Kentucky International Convention Center
Located in Louisville's bustling downtown, the recently renovated and expanded Kentucky International Convention Center has transformed into a versatile trade show and event facility. The venue now features more than 200,000 square feet of contiguous (and nearly column-free) exhibit space, a 40,000-square-foot column-free ballroom, three state-of-the-art boardrooms, and 52 meeting rooms. The LEED Silver-certified facility is focused on the future of sustainability while still commemorating its past through subtle nods to Derby City's cultural roots. KICC is just a short gallop from booming bourbon distilleries and two thriving entertainment districts: Whiskey Row and Fourth Street Live.
WHERE TO SLEEP
Finding a place to sleep in any price range is a cinch with 6,000 hotel rooms within walking distance. The Louisville Marriott Downtown and Hyatt Regency are directly connected to the venue via a skywalk. If you're looking for a hip boutique stay, check out the 91-room 21C Museum Hotel, which features contemporary art galleries.
WHAT TO EAT
Fourth Street Live is brimming with lunch options just outside the venue. For wooing business clients, you cannot go wrong with Vincenzo's Italian restaurant, which offers private dining options for up to 150 guests. Alternatively, the English Grill in the iconic The Brown Hotel is quintessential Louisville and home of the famous Hot Brown.
HOW TO GET THERE
The KICC is less than eight miles from the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. A taxi to the venue will run about $25. Ride-sharing through Lyft and Uber costs about $18 and $21, respectively. For those driving to the convention center, two on-site parking facilities offer more than 1,300 parking spaces for up to $12 per day in the Commonwealth and Cowger garages. The KICC is a GBAC certified facility. Levy Restaurants is the exclusive food-and-beverage provider. Kentucky Venues is the exclusive communication technology provider. Prestige AV & Creative Services is the venue's preferred audiovisual vendor. The KICC does not offer on-site printing, but a FedEx outlet with numerous business services is nearby. Displays featuring soil or water must use a coating of Visqueen, fire-retardant plastic, plywood, or Masonite to protect the floor. Closed-top exhibits must include a smoke detector that is audible from outside the enclosure. Display vehicles must have disconnected batteries, secured fuel tanks, and no more than five gallons or a quarter of a tank of fuel. Exhibitors may not distribute any goods that resemble or bear the image of the Confederate Battle flag or racist ideology (e.g., the Ku Klux Klan). As a state government facility, the KICC does not prohibit the carrying of properly licensed concealed or open-carry firearms.
