Pennsylvania Convention Center Debuts New Executive Boardroom Meeting Space

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Pennsylvania Convention Center hosted a ribbon cutting for its newly constructed, high-end executive boardroom meeting space to meet the needs of corporate customers. The $2.25 million capital project entailed the conversion of underutilized space in the facility that boasts impressive views of the city into one of the largest boardroom meeting spaces in the region. “We have a number of customers who host board meetings in conjunction with their annual conferences and trade shows,” said John McNichol, President and CEO of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority. “While we have a wide range of customizable meeting rooms and exhibit hall spaces, we felt that a high-end, conference room would really enhance the customer experience and provide a state-of-the-art option for hosting executive meetings. Very few convention centers offer a conference room meeting space of this caliber, and we believe it sets us apart from other facilities while enhancing our ability to attract corporate clients.” 
The more than 1,700-square-foot room is enclosed by glass, providing guests with an open feeling and a view of the city looking to the west. Customers will have full access to the room’s state-of-the-art technology including four large mobile LED monitor displays for presentations, touchpads that connect to various meeting apps for easy access to virtual meetings, and sophisticated camera, speaker, and microphone systems. Additionally, the lighting options and room privacy, via motorized shades, are fully customizable with the support of an onsite AV technician. A standout feature of the new boardroom is a custom-built light maple conference table crafted by Paul Down Cabinetmakers of Bridgeport, PA. The 40’ x 9’ table can comfortably seat 36 people and, in a nod to the state’s heritage, the table’s legs are shaped like the commonwealth’s keystone logo. “The new boardroom is just one of the exciting enhancements to the Pennsylvania Convention Center that are planned for this year,” said Tony Hodgins, General Manager with ASM Global. “Our team is known for being innovators and industry leaders in venue and event management, and through our collaborative efforts with the Authority, the Pennsylvania Convention Center will continue to be the premier venue for meetings and events.” About the Pennsylvania Convention Center The Pennsylvania Convention Center is located in Center City Philadelphia at the heart of the city's many cultural offerings and world-class dining and entertainment scene.
