Operating Systems

Historically, exhibitors had to choose between highly functional – yet often forgettable – system architecture, and aesthetically superior but logistically complex custom builds. But modular exhibit systems have evolved to the point where form now meets function by way of highly customizable and aesthetically pleasing structures that pack tightly, ship efficiently, and install with the ease of an erector set. To prove that point, here are six user-friendly system exhibits that function like well-oiled machines without sacrificing style in the process. By Linda Armstrong

Outside the Box

SilkRoad Technology Inc., a provider of cloud-based human-resource solutions, wanted an open exhibit that would break the mold of its previous, boxy booths. This asymmetrical structure fit the bill, with large-format graphics and an overhead sign beckoning to attendees.

Featuring faux-wood floors and whitewashed barn-wood walls, this booth for Silver Hills Bakery at Natural Products Expo East created an environment reminiscent of a general store. Two sample stations, LED-lit product displays, and a small meeting area rounded out the adorable design.

Rich finishes, Plexiglas panels, and metallic accents imbued this booth for Samsonite International SA's Hartmann brand with a level of luxury rarely seen in system exhibits. Modern fixtures commingled with historical artifacts, subtly acknowledging the brand's past and present.

Dye-sublimated graphics featuring images of wood paneling and stone walls comprise this rustic space befitting the Green Vapes brand. Installed using Duo Display's Panoramic SEG full visual display system, the booth packed into a single crate for its debut at VapExpo in Paris.

To educate prospects about its Odysseyware offering, which allows students and teachers to interact via online portals, Glynlyon Inc. chose this eye-catching exhibit. Tensioned-fabric elements formed a portal-like entrance to the theater, where attendees were invited to sit and learn.

Three capsule-like structures took center stage in this exhibit for India-based Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd. The 33-by-50-foot exhibit, which debuted at CPhl Worldwide, housed six private meeting rooms, two VIP conference areas, a functional kitchen, and a hospitality lounge.
