Defined Exhibits, Inc. Reaches 15 Year Milestone

Defined Exhibits, Inc. marked 15 years in the trade show industry as of December 24, 2014. Yes, the business license was approved on Christmas Eve in 1999 and was incorporated in the State of Illinois. An exhilarating day in owner Stephan Koos' life, just in time for the holidays. Opening any business is a risky decision, but Koos decided to open a business while the whole world was terrified of Y2K. Who remembers that? The computer glitch that was going to end human civilization, all the hype seems silly now, doesn't it? The process took 2 weeks for Koos to complete and surely he "partied like it was 1999." From developing a business plan, to completing all necessary license documents, coming up with a name and creating a logo, it is astonishing the process only took that long. He did all of this with no assurance of what was going to happen the following week.

Defined Exhibits, Inc. has worked with hundreds of company's throughout its past 15 years of existence and has become an all in one exhibit designer, manufacturer, installer and everything else in between. Custom Exhibit Designs and craftsmanship are still produced in-house to ensure the best quality along with the latest technology to achieve accuracy and satisfaction. Of course, Defined Exhibits, Inc. has come a long way from its humble beginning. The first home for Defined Exhibits, Inc. was in Koos' basement and it was built upon a dream and determination. Koos spent the beginning part of 1999 traveling, soul searching, spending countless hours on the beach with dog Akayla and working odd jobs. He then had an epiphany to open his own business. It was not until he told a familiar face his idea and in turn that person became Defined Exhibits, Inc.’s first client and is still a client today. By March 2000, Defined Exhibits, Inc. was off to a great start servicing 3 clients attending shows in Chicago, Atlanta and Orlando. The office moved out of Koos' basement into a building 3 miles west of McCormick Place located in Chicago, Illinois. Defined Exhibits, Inc.’s home is now located outside of Chicago in Countryside, IL.

Koos started in the trade show industry when he was 8 years old and is very knowledgeable in the business. During summer vacation, young Koos would spend days at his father's office while he sold trade show exhibits. His knowledge of McCormick Place is vast as he spent his weekends growing up cleaning displays and moving boxes for conventions. When he was 9 years old he actually drove a forklift off a dock which forced carpenters to run for their lives. No one was injured in the incident.
