ISIE Presents a Conversation with Kevin Thomas: Designing the U.S. Pavilion for Expo 2025, Moderated by EXHIBITOR's Charles Pappas
9/4/2024
The Institute for the Study of International Expositions (ISIE) announces its September event: A Conversation with Kevin Thomas: Designing the U.S. Pavilion for Expo 2025. The free one-hour event will take place virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, September 11 at 6:00 pm (EDT). Headlining the talk is Kevin Thomas, managing principal of the New York studio of New Orleans-based Trahan Architects. Thomas, a leading expert in cultural and institutional spaces, will dive deep into both the inspiration and the nuts and bolts of the company’s dramatic design for the United States Pavilion for Expo 2025, set to open in Osaka-Kansai, Japan next April for a six-month run. The event, part of ISIE’s Speaker Series, will include an interview of Thomas after which there’ll be a Q&A session, where Thomas will field questions from the audience. Charles Pappas, Senior Writer at EXHIBITOR magazine and World Expo historian, will moderate. “Kevin Thomas’ design for the United States pavilion is bold and dramatic,” said Pappas. “I love how it echoes the most successful American pavilions over the last 70 years in its power to stop you right in your tracks. This will give the audience a behind-the-scenes, nuts-and-bolts look at how such a large project with so many stakeholders gets made.” While the event is free, pre-registration is required through this link: https://bit.ly/4e298NZ About ISIE Founded in 2021, the Institute for the Study of International Expositions is a global interdisciplinary network focused on the exploration of world’s fairs.
