Visit Oxnard Wins Oxnard Chamber of Commerce 70th Annual Community & Business Awards “Best Place to Work”
9/29/2020
The team at Visit Oxnard has been recognized by the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce 70th Annual Community & Business Awards Selection Committee as the “Best Place to Work.” Oxnard Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Nancy Lindholm affirms the win as deserving. She says, “Visit Oxnard has been recognized by numerous organizations for the accomplishments they have achieved as a team. It is clear they work together very well to get Oxnard’s name out there. It’s also apparent they have fun doing it!” Visit Oxnard leadership is invested in the tenants of sociocracy, or dynamic governance, a decentralized method of management, where everyone has a seat at the decision-making table. “Each of us is provided a level of trust which motivates us to do our best,” says Office Manager, Michelle Flippo. “It’s an honor to be recognized for the workplace we’ve created.” Chairman Steve Buenger says, “Having been associated with the Visit Oxnard organization for nearly 20 years, it makes me very proud to see our team recognized with this prestigious award. We have expert leadership and an empowered team that embraces a winning attitude.” He continues, “It has been especially gratifying to see the team adapt to these unprecedented times – promoting Oxnard as a destination during the coronavirus pandemic. Although the office workplace has been replaced with virtual meetings, productivity and comradery has continued to flourish, and we are excited to see what the future brings for this great team.” In addition to the organization’s win, Visit Oxnard board member and Assistant City Manager Ashley Golden is the recipient of this year’s “Business Advocate of the Year” award, while destination attraction partner Drum Workshop (DW Drums) has been named “Large Business of the Year.” This year’s awards ceremony is themed “Happy Hour,” but attendees will be clinking glasses virtually, as the ceremony will be broadcast via video conference October 8 at 4pm. Master of Ceremonies is slated to be Ventura County Lodging Association Executive Director Brian Tucker. Acceptance speeches have been pre-filmed by local videography company Steel Cut Productions. Visit Oxnard was recognized earlier in the year as one of the Central Coast’s Best Places to Work by Pacific Coast Business Times, for the second consecutive year. The organization was presented by the Chamber with the coveted “Oxnard Trophy” in 2018 for its work to promote Oxnard to both domestic and international visitors. About Visit Oxnard Visit Oxnard is a public non-profit 501(c)(4) destination marketing organization working hand-in-hand with the City of Oxnard and its hotels, transportation entities, restaurants, retailers, attractions, historic districts and more to promote Oxnard as a premier leisure and business travel destination.
