Thirty-three years ago in 1985, the first Macworld expo debuted at Brooks Hall in San Francisco. Sponsored by Macworld magazine, the show offered more than 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest Macintosh-related software and hardware. The centerpiece of the inaugural show was Apple Inc.'s 11-foot-tall model of its Macintosh 512K computer, around which attendees gathered to watch demonstrations of Lotus Development Corp.'s Jazz, a game-changing program combining word processing, spreadsheet, and graphic functions, on the computer's working screen.
