Backlit Display
Many exhibitors see pop-up back walls as a godsend because they generally fit in one rolling case and are nearly effortless to set up. But adding lighting to such a display or having a wall longer than 10 feet usually turns one transport case into two and makes the wall much more of a headache to assemble. Nomadic Display has cured this exhibitor pain point with the Nomadic Backlit Display, a system that provides the best of both worlds when it comes to ease of installation and style. Walls feature fabric graphics with silicone-edged gaskets and lightweight extrusion that makes them a breeze to transport. The Nomadic Backlit Display also boasts LED lighting pre-installed in extrusion channels, providing bright backlighting without the hassle of toting extra pieces. Frames assemble without tools, and complete back-wall systems up to 20 feet long will fit into one rolling container that can be converted to a counter using a fabric graphic wrap. Float Plane
It used to be that shelving accessories had to be carefully planned in the design of an exhibit wall, but now you can place shelves anywhere you want with Floating Shelves by Moss Inc. The shelves work with a variety of Moss products, including Illuminedge, EZ Fabric, and Moss Groove, when the systems are outfitted with magnetic interior spanners that run horizontally and vertically. Depending on the magnetic grid created internally, the shelves can be placed virtually anywhere without penetrating the fabric for support, and each can hold 22.5 pounds, with heavier weight solutions available. Powder-coated steel shelving pieces are available in black, white, or custom colors and can be cut into any shape. Clear acrylic shelves are available as well and come in standard 8-by-6-inch or 16-by-6-inch sizes as well as custom lengths. Step Right Up
Set up a service counter anywhere in your exhibit or at your event when you wheel in the Mobile Event Booth by AmpliVox. Portable units have a 38-inch-tall base with a 38-by-20-inch countertop that provides ample space for collateral and product samples. Each unit also features open shelves as well as locking storage. The front and sides of the base can be branded with graphics, and an overhead marquee-style frame will support graphics, a computer monitor up to 36 inches, or a flatscreen TV up to 32 inches. Mobile Event Booths are crafted of heavy-gauge steel with a powder-coat finish, and each has four casters that make moving the unit a breeze. The overhead frame height is adjustable up to 86 inches tall, and accessories include a public-address system with microphones. Contact: AmpliVox, Northbrook, IL, 800-267-5486, www.ampli.com
The Inside Scoop
Trade show and event organizers routinely provide apps that allow attendees to do things like manage their schedules or read announcements and updates. But what is often missing from those platforms is a social feature that lets users interact with each other before, during, and after the show. Now the Skoop for Private Events app bridges that gap by allowing attendees to communicate amongst themselves using a Facebook-type social feed called Heartbeat or a powerful group-chat function that works as a private chat room for groups of registered users. The Heartbeat feed shares event news and attendee posts in real time and lets users engage with one another. Group chat enables any self-selected group to interact and share pictures, videos, files, or locations instantly. The app also offers polling capabilities that can be used by organizers or attendees to gather feedback, and it provides a marketplace for exhibitors or sponsors as well as a scheduling tool that will sync with Google and Apple calendars. Freight Finder
Exhibit managers can sleep a little easier when they outfit shipments with a GPS device from FreightWatch International and follow them with FWtracks, a freight-tracking service that notifies you as soon as a shipment makes a wrong turn. FWtracks uses a small transmitter placed inside a cargo container to keep tabs on a shipment throughout its journey, providing instantaneous viewing of an item's location and alerts when the freight departs from the programmed time schedule or route. Transmitters are equipped with long-lasting batteries to ensure a signal throughout the journey, and they use industrial-strength transmission technology to penetrate steel containers.
