This 33-by-20-foot (10-by-6-meter) exhibit from Munich, Germany-based exhibit house Atelier Dambock Messebau GmbH offers the perfect combination of Green and clean. Designed to demonstrate that eco-conscious elements and high design standards can go hand in hand, the exhibit featured a seemingly cluttered exterior paired with a clean and pristine interior.

Designers covered the roughly 15-foot exterior walls with multiple vignettes made from typical waste accumulated at an exhibition. The eye-catching displays — which featured a smattering of elements in Dambock's corporate green hue — not only drew attention to the stand exterior; they also drew attention to the massive amount of waste generated by every trade show.

To enter the exhibit interior, however, visitors had to first climb three layers of waste chipboard, which had been stacked to form two steps and the platform upon which the main part of the exhibit rested. An eye-catcher in itself, the stacked-chipboard platform also featured inlaid lighting panels to illuminate its top.

Once atop the platform, attendees could visit the reception desk/hospitality bar, or actually climb down the stairs on the side of the exhibit into a sunken lounge. Here, grey and white contemporary furniture pieces offered a quiet, secluded respite from the show floor. Meanwhile, a flatscreen attached to the back wall and various iPads scattered throughout offered an ongoing capabilities presentation.

Judges honored the booth for its "exemplary job of integrating disparate materials" and for its refined and "quite remarkable" interior space. But what's more, the exhibit was a clear attendee draw as hoards of visitors stopped by each day for a photo op of the exhibit's exterior and to get a closer look at the scrap-chipboard stairs.
