Bright Lights for Tight Spaces
Small exhibitors often feel that a robust lighting strategy is out of their reach due to limited square footage, minuscule budgets, and a perceived dearth of space-conscious options. But given the number of products on the market, adding a little illumination to a skimpy stand is easier than one might think. By Brian Dukerschein
The Expand LightBox Portable system from Expand International of America Inc. functions as a freestanding backlit wall, or it can be integrated with the company's GrandFabric modules to create countless configurations. Available in nine sizes ranging from 31.5-inches square to 94.5-inches square, the LightBox Portable comprises a lightweight frame that can be assembled sans tools, single- or double-sided pillowcase graphics, and premounted LED lights with custom laser-cut lenses designed to eliminate hot spots for this frame's specific profile. The system is delivered in a nylon carrying bag but also fits inside the company's PodiumCase, which offers safe storage on the road and can be turned into a complementing freestanding counter in the booth. The next generation of electroluminescent (EL) wire systems, Laser Wire is available in lengths from 1 to 10 meters and is designed to add dramatic accent lighting to both static displays and mobile applications – think tricking out your staff uniforms or a corporate mascot. The optical glass fibers are lit by a small proprietary Opal Drive powered by either a rechargeable battery or a Micro USB cable. Additional features include blink and fade modes, as well as the option of creating multicolored gradients by attaching an Opal Drive at each end of the wire. Even cooler: When compared to traditional EL systems, Laser Wire is incredibly flexible, operates silently, and emits light that is up to 10 times brighter.
