ramatically different yet utterly cohesive" is the phrase judges used to describe these three stunning exhibits for Osram Opto Semiconductors GmbH. Honored with a Gold Award in the Design Consistency category - which recognizes a history of design excellence developed between an exhibitor and a design firm - this bevy of beautiful designs was crafted by Solingen, Germany-based Bachmann.Kern & Partner. While each exhibit was a masterpiece unto itself, the three designs were cohesive in their use of strong lines, inventive shapes, and color scheme.
The senior member of the bunch, a 53-by-33-foot exhibit built for Electronica 2008, comprised a black outer shell with elliptical cutouts that towered more than 12 feet high. Similar to the other two exhibits, the space was designed to highlight Osram's LED lights.
Debuting at Light+ Building 2010, the most angular member of the trio featured a series of intersecting lines formed into a sort of asterisk-like element, which was meant to represent a photometric curve.
Finally, the orange, black, and white color palette also made its way into Osram's exhibit at Electronica 2010. However, earlier exhibits' semi-enclosed floor plans gave way to an open, airy exhibit featuring what designers called a "band of inspiration" - a tension-fabric structure that emerged from the wall and seemed to levitate over the booth.
While each of these one-off designs offered "ahh" inducing appeal, the collective trio maintained an unmistakable consistency that branded each space as utterly Osram.e

Light-Minded Designs
While distinctly different, the three exhibits for Osram Opto Semiconductors GmbH contained several connective threads, including the orange, white, and black color palette: Electronica, 2008 (A); Light+Building, 2010 (B); Electronica, 2010 (C). |
