GES Launches ESG Progress Report
9/25/2024
GES has released its ESG Progress Report, following months of data analysis and assessment from the specialist event brand. The report provides a detailed overview of GES’ ESG achievements to date as well as its plans and aspirations. It is released following the appointment of the business’ first Head of ESG, Kate Holliday, back in 2023 and is the latest demonstration of its commitment to better understanding and improving its effects on its surroundings and the wider world.

The report carries huge significance for an industry that contributed £10.9bn to the UK economy in 2023 according to the Event Industry Alliance’s recent economic report.

In order to build the report, Kate has three key conclusions, which are:
  1. Data is a huge challenge for the industry, but it also presents a huge opportunity. By working together, the industry has the chance to make enormous progress.
  2. There are increasing opportunities to expand community engagement and exciting ways in which businesses can contribute to social change.
  3. Innovation and technology – and the speed at which we develop and evolve technology will dictate the speed at which we can make change. We lean heavily on technology to solve our existing problems and we need it keep apace.
Kate said: “The past few months have allowed us to really take stock of what GES has achieved and what direction we wish to take – but we can’t do it alone. As an industry we are afforded so many opportunities to make a real and tangible difference but we must be willing to work at it together.”

David Langrish, VP Marketing, GES added: “ESG remains a huge priority for us, and we continue to invest in it. It is vital that we work collaboratively with the industry in order to achieve the greater good and our milestones.”

The Progress Report precedes GES’ more extensive ESG roadmap which is set to be released before the end of the year.
