Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Releases 2019 June Tourism Summary
Development in Las Vegas is booming and the destination’s June 2019 visitation, up from the previous year, reflects that the “Entertainment Capital of the World” remains to be a top draw where any weekday can be a weekend for visitors.
“Las Vegas’ June 2019 visitation in both the leisure and convention segments is up with gains in weekend and mid-week occupancy,” said, Steve Hill, CEO and president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “The destination is thriving with more than $15 billion in development from our Las Vegas Convention Center expansion and renovation to the new stadium underway.”
Southern Nevada continues to evolve to meet visitor expectations and expand its offerings driving tourism. Weekend occupancy exceeded 96 percent during the month, but the energy of Las Vegas runs 24/7. Many visitors took advantage of greater availability and shorter lines and wait times during the middle of the week as the destination reached 89.7 percent midweek occupancy, up from 88 percent last June.
In 2018, Las Vegas welcomed 42.1 million visitors including 6.5 million meeting and convention delegates. Tourism generates nearly $60 billion annually in Southern Nevada. The industry supports nearly 368,000 local jobs, representing approximately 39 percent of the workforce and provides $16 billion in local wages.
