Given the rising cost of exhibit-hall concrete, every bit of space – including the air above it – needs to somehow deliver on exhibitors' objectives. That's why many marketers turn to overhead elements not only to help attendees find their space but also to create an arresting allure that might draw them in from the aisles. And to squeeze even more effectiveness from this aerial area, some add a bit of lighting to ensure attendees turn their eyes to the skies and then to the booths below. To help you conjure creative elements for a future overhead endeavor, here are six ceiling structures that use lighting to catch the eye and redirect the feet. By Linda Armstrong

This provider of store fixtures and signage employed its own products to craft a one-of-a-kind ceiling structure. Comprising circular disks and tube-shaped light fixtures suspended at varying heights from a truss structure, the elements combined to form a cohesive whole.
The power of repetition and color contrast took center stage in this stunning structure for a Polish design firm. Amid the 19 white lightboxes suspended from trusses floated an additional cube in the company's corporate-green hue, drawing the eye and branding the ceiling ensemble.
